Jan Strick, violin maker, has brought together in Flagey eight instruments from various periods to illustrate a history of the cello since the 17th century. This valuable evidence will allow us to visually and audibly address the often little-known evolution of the instrument.
Based on his experience as a musician and on rich iconographic sources, Hervé Douchy will discuss the common origins of the violoncello and the bass violin.
Peter François presents nine generations of Belgian cellists and brings to light the story of the Belgian school of cello playing.
